When is Frankie's Place not Frankie's Place????

When it's not Frankie's Place for Ribs. That's right. According to Michael Gelardi, president of Seafood Industries Inc, operator of Frankie’s Place for Ribs restaurants in Virginia Beach since 1982, and owner of the registered trade name and service mark “Frankie’s Place for Ribs” says it is someone trying to horn in on their good name to make a buck.

I will post more as this story unfolds. And it is unfolding faster than I can type; bet on it.

chow for now.

I've been waiting for them to work out ALL the kinks and finally decided to try the plance tonight (5/18).

I ordered a half slab of beef ribs and it was one of the biggest mistakes of my rib eating life. They were "big boned", lightly sauced and the right temperature but that was about it as far as something positive to say goes.

The ribs had probably been cooked to perfection at some point but by the time they got to me, they had been reheated too many times and were more like jerkey on a bone with a light brushing of sauce. I should have just sent them back when they arrived at the table and I saw that the meat was shriveled and shrunken but I didn't and I'll never make that mistake again...

The server didn't really seem to care about anything but getting the plates on the table, neither excellent service or poor service, just kind of indifferent.

My wife had the pulled pork plate and said it was very good, go figure....

Anyway, do a good visual on whatever gets brought to your table and send it back if it doesn't look right. That's what I SHOULD have done tonight.....

You are not the first one to say something about the service. From chatter, everybody seems to echo the same thing: the servers don't seem to care about the customers.
My own experience is that the servers are stuck in a hard place: lousy kitchen service (getting the food out on time) and 'what-can-I-do-about-it? Anyway, it comes out as being indifferent and that speaks of inexperience.
My advice is to NEVER let bad service - table or kitchen - go unnoticed. You're not doing the restaurant any favors nor the community.

I was just interested to know if more of the original story was available...it was supposed to unfold-I had no idea about this new restaurant not being related to the original and was quite surprised. I was excited that this restaurant I'd grown up with in the Kempsville area was in my backyard! please continue the story-I've been waiting :)

A friend and I had dinner there about 6 weeks ago or so. It was a nice evening and we chose to sit outside. It was the worst meal I have ever had the displeasure of paying for. There was a party sitting at the table next to us and it was obvious that one of the men had had waaaaaaay too much to drink. And they kept serving him. Every other word was the *f* word and he made lewd comments about every (young) woman that walked by. There were a lot of children outside on the patio that night...I was mortified by his behavior but it was obvious that he was so inebriated that he didn't care.

I complained to our server and asked for the check because I had stomached all I could. The manager came out and had a word with some of the people at the table. The big offender was table-hopping at the time.

Here's the kicker...the one who was so obnoxious and totally disgusting is one of the OWNERS.

I will NEVER go there again. Ever. They will NOT get one more nickel of my money. AND I put up a comment that very night on Yelp.com.

Frankie's Place is by far NOT an asset to this community and I hope their presence is short-lived.

Lucky for all of us - it was short lived. You have no idea the stories about this place I could share. They have closed - locked the doors and stiffed all of their employees. So, on top of trying to pull a slick one about their name, they pulled a slick one on the workers there too.
